New Narrative Podcast Explores the Hidden Forces of Shame

ST. LOUIS, MO

It’s a shame you don't know more about shame.

Nick Jaworski has created a new podcast, called Shame Rules!, to explore the hidden ways that shame shapes our world. Each episode takes a story and explores the way that shame helped determine the outcome.

Nick says, “We’ve all felt shame at some point or another throughout our life. It’s a dominating emotion that completely consumes us. Shame is that little thing in our heads that tells us not simply that we did something bad, but that we are bad. But, shame is so much more than that. As I started looking into it, I realized that a lot of our current conversations about [shame] don't quite go far enough, they don't capture the whole picture.”

This isn’t some ordinary podcast. Jaworski has been producing and editing podcasts for the last six years with New York Times Best-Selling authors, thought leaders, Silicon Valley tech companies, and entrepreneurs. His company, Podcast Monster, has produced episodes that have been downloaded over 20 million times and his other podcast, Where There’s Smoke, has been recognized by publications like the A.V. Club’s Podmass.

Shame Rules! isn’t for a client, though - this is Jaworski’s passion project. It’s six episodes have been crafted for 15 months because he believes that understanding how shame shapes our lives will help us to navigate the future in a better, more healthy way.

The series premiere will arrive on October 2. Episode topics include purity, parades, epidemiology, education, politics, technology, and so much more. Each episode features leading shame-scholars, researchers, authors, and filmmakers that will share fascinating stories about shame at work. The goal is to help listeners understand how shame is really at the heart of so much of how we live.

Join Nick on his journey of discovering the many, many, many ways that shame, often invisibly, shapes not just our own lives and experiences, but our entire world. Subscribe to Shame Rules! on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts or wherever you listen. New episodes will premiere on October 2nd.

About Shame Rules

Shame Rules! is a new podcast that explores the many, many, many ways that shame, often invisibly, shapes not just our own lives and experiences, but our entire world.

Shame plays an important role in how we raise and educate our children, which laws get written, how we treat marginalized people, how we view change itself, who has power - and who doesn’t, and that’s just to name a few…

Produced by Nick Jaworski & Epiphonic, each episode uses stories to highlight just how all of this shame works. To help tell these stories, Nick will be joined by leading shame scholars, researchers, authors, and filmmakers.
